How I save for the holidays.

Who doesn’t like getting gift cards? I have found some awesome sights that allow me to earn points and redeem them for gift cards. For the past three years I’ve  accumulated enough points that I’ve used to redeem for  gift cards that I use for Christmas shopping. I use the site to click thru to shop online, print coupons, take surveys and browse. As an example I usually redeem my points for Amazon gift cards. I then use the gift cards on AWESOME deals they have thru the holiday season and by clicking thru Swagbucks I start to earn points that I use next Christmas. It’s a wonderful cycle that I don’t mind doing over again. I love swagbucks because they have so many ways of earning points. They have a tool bar you can add to your browsers and when you search for things you earn points, they have surveys, buy thru links that earn points per dollars spent, online games, daily polls; the possibilities can be endless.

Click the link (Click Here) to head on over to Swagbucks so you can start earning your awesome points.

Another sight I  use which sends me a check once I reached a certain amount so no need to try to redeem points with this one, is Ebates. If you love shopping online then this sight might be what you’re looking for.  They have a ton of stores from Macys to Overstock they even have Zulily.

These are just a few sights I love to use. Let me know if you want to know what Apps I use to earn cash back on items I buy at the grocery store.

Ideas wanted.. Spring Break is here!!!!

Being in kindergarten means were official big kid statues which also means my calendar is jam packed with half days, teacher days, every holiday imaginable and school breaks.  Nothing is harder than being a single parent who works full time that has to try to find someone that has two or more weeks to watch my kid. But I’m grateful that I have a great network of people I can use. With my day starting earlier means I can be at work early so that I can be home early to enjoy the beautiful spring days.

It’s not so hot that I can bust out the water guns and slip and slides (which won’t happen this year because of California’s drought problem) but it’s also warm enough to enjoy a great evening hike or picnic dinner. I have a few ideas but I’d like to know what YOU do during spring break to enjoy the afternoon sun and beautiful evenings? Please leave me a comment I’d love to hear your ideas and spring break activities.

What do you give thanks for?

I give thanks for the healthy kids in my life, and I give thanks for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

For the second in year in a row my son and I will be walking in the St Jude Give thanks. Walk to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. One day one huge walk!  On November 22nd, 65 communities will take part in the efforts to raise money to help support life saving treatments that St Jude provides to children and their families.

I’m thankful to know that St. Jude is there — finding cures for kids with pediatric cancer and other deadly diseases and giving hope to parents around the world. I’ve been so moved by the inspirational stories of the kids treated there that I decieded to walk. I need your support to help me reach my fundraising goal of $150. To find out more about St Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the research they are doing to help save lives please visit.

As a fundraiser effort I have partnered with Younique to give 10% of retail price to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. If you would like to visit the site and make a purchase please use the link below .

How your support helps:
Thanks to donations from people like us, families never receive a bill from St. Jude for anything.Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent to more than 80 percent.”

Please visit my fundraising Web page to donate (or register!) today. Donate here.

My Pinterest tries!!

If you know what Pinterest is then you know the amount of hours one can waste going over boards and boards of interesting things one can cook, sew, craft, DIY and mimic. Who has not found something on there and said “OMG I can totally do this”, “ Look how easy” and “OHH wow I never knew you could do that”

Once I started to meal prep the first thing I did was look to Pinterest for easy ideas to try at home. That is when I found this one..
A yummy Bean Salad:

I made a huge batch of this and used it threw out the week with my lunches. I would mix in some quinoa or chicken to give it a different taste. Even added avocado.

Another Pinterest try we did this week is this AMAZING Fried Honey Banana Recipe.

Literally my sister said she wants to purchase a ton of bananas to make this recipe every day. It’s a great healthy alternative to candy. Try at your own risk this does seem to be addictive.

So of course with me being so obsessed with Pinterest I started to collect toilet paper rolls. I thought for sure I would find a great craft idea to try with my monkey. With Easter right around the corner I found this great post we could try. Toilet paper Easter Bunnies.

As always I love reading your comments and don’t forget to follow me on twitter and facebook to keep up with me.

Give Thanks Walk

On November 23rd, we had the pleasure of participating in the St Jude Give Thanks. Walk #givethankswalk in San Francisco at the San Francisco Zoo. We walked 2 miles around the Zoo and then were welcomed to come back to enjoy the rest of the day at the zoo. It was so heartwarming to see everyone come out so early to support a great cause. We heard from current patients of St Jude and how with everyone’s help they are able to obtain treatment and support in such a difficult time. St Jude is a wonderful organization that ensures that there patients are taken care of 100% . Please visit to learn more about this great organization and to make donations if possible.

Together, we can raise money to ensure that no family ever pays St. Jude for anything. St. Jude is changing the way the world treats childhood cancer and other deadly diseases through its groundbreaking research — and we can help them do it. Because St. Jude shares its research freely, every child saved at St. Jude means thousands more saved around the world.

After the walk we were able to enjoy the beautiful San Francisco Zoo and my own little monkey was excited to see the Lions, Giraffes and Zebras.

What do you give thanks for??? I give thanks for the healthy child in my life, my friends and my family.

Did you participate in a St Jude Walk?

Goals of the week

So I’ve decided to follow Money Saving Moms model on goal planning. This will help me hold myself a lot more accountable with my goals.

This week’s goals:

Mothering Goals:

2) Aim for Friday to be craft day.

3) Homework to be done by Friday – aim to do it when we get home. I am still working on a good time to sit with him to finish his homework. This week we will try to do it when we come home.

Happy Valentines!!!

Being a singleton is not so bad but when Valentines comes around I fall into this hopeless despair that I will always be single on valentine’s day. So before I resort to stuffing myself with candies that I purchased for myself in order to feel better I decided I would embrace my single statues and celebrate all that blesses me.
Things I plan to do the days leading up to Valentine’s day:

· Valentines craft with my monkey,
· Back a cake and decorate all pink and sparkly
· Send out V day cards to my loved one.
· Wear pink lipstick. (I’ve actually seen the color on a lot of beauty gurus)

I’ve also immersed myself in reading romantic novels. HEE HEE. What’s the best way to spend my time then reading of great love. I love romance novels, even the smutty period type romance stuff. ( Brawn and Boobs) HEE HEE.

How do you celebrate the month of LOVE???
