October Shanagans !!!!

October is the month of spooky treats and sneaky tricks.. This year I decided we would do something super special.

We went to Disneyland and did Trick or Treating with Mickey and Friends. It was such a magical experience for myself since the last time I was actually there was before I could remember even being there. So even as I disguised the trip as something special for my son it was also something super special for me. As soon as the sun went down the decorations and spooky noises came out and I was in awwwww. I loved how they lit the castle and you could see spiders crawling over it and the purple color of the castle so perfect. My son was quick to say he saw spells being cast all over he park and the Magic of Disney made us feel like we were caught in a spell. I loved how they set up stations so the kiddos can collect yummy treat and if lucky catch characters posing for pictures. My son is still talking about his conversation with Pirate Goofy. I honestly cannot wait to go back. I had such a great time with my son. He was a real trooper and did well even thought it was crowded. Unfortunaly we did not get to all the rides that night but the ones we did get on were AWESOME. I have first hand experience on why people fall in love with this place. We are now ready to tackle our next trip with out laniards and pins. Our first pin is the first time at Disney pin that we were given at the ticket counter.

I’m already starting to save my pennies so we can go once again next year. Definatly visiting Disney on a budget is very doable. Never let anything stop you. It will all be worth it.

Thomas and Percy Halloween Party at Roaring Camp Railways was such a fun day for my little one. He was able to finally meet his favorite trains; Thomas the Tank Engine and his best friend Percy. This was the first year Percy made it to Roaring Camp. The day was beautiful and all the activities were so much fun. My son could not contain his excitement when we walked into the park and he was surrounded by trains.  We were able to take pictures with Thomas and Percy. Sir Topham Hatt was also available to take pictubut we did not have time. We also enjoyed all the activities they were offering. Tattoos and face painting, and picking pumpkins to take home and jumping in the Bounce House. I think having a bouncy house is essential to giving kids a fun time. The best part was our 20 min train ride. It was a relaxing ride thru the area pulled one direction by Thomas and then pulled back to the rail station by Percy.

I would defiantly suggest this trip if you have the chance to visit a railroad station where Thomas the Tank Engine stationed. The wonder of it will live forever in your childs memory

Boo at the Zoo was a super fun event the Oakland Zoo holds over a weekend in Oct. The kids and grown ups are encouranged to come in costume, participate in a costume parade, enjoy the scavanger hunt and maybe take a spooky train ride.  We saw huge spooky bats; new to me since the last visit we made to the zoo. I thought they were pretty cool. Most were sleeping but some were up scratching and swinging away. Reminded me of a book we read ; Bats at the beach by Brian Lies. Check it out if you have not. But  they were not the only animals we saw up close. During the Animal Theater show we saw a Farrett, a Horned owl and a Black snack. Honestly I cant tell you the name of the snack because I was so freaked out. This mom does not like snakes. But I did learn that its not poisenous and it kills its pray by thrashing it about and this type of snake pretend to be a cobra when its faced with a danger. As we visited different stations to learn about animals we also got our booklet stamped so we could claim a prize at the end of our scavanger hunt. This made being at the zoo so much more fun. To end the day we moved on over to Adventure Land to enjoy a kid coaster, a zippy plane ride and the carasoul.

Well I hope you all had a fabulous october and please let me know what cool and fun things you do to celebrate and count down to halloween.

The Wiggles in concert!!

The Wiggles come to town with their TAKING OFF TOUR featuring Anthony Wiggle, Simon Wiggle, Lacky Wiggle & Emma Wiggle. Of course Captain Feather Sword was there as well. Do I even have to describe the smile my monkey had on his face when the lights grew dim and the bright colorful lights turned on and the announcer came out to introduce them on stage. Immediately the dancing ensued, the jumping & the singing. This year mom remembered that Wags needed a bone and Rosie loves Roses. I bet you can imagine how excited my little one was to give over those present to them. And he got so lucky that Emma Wiggles was able to look at him and take the present from him. He was on cloud nine after that. As a parent I love bringing joy to my child and I love exposing him to great music that is tailored to him with dance moves and great lyrics.

We have been attending The Wiggles concerts for the last three years and lucky for us they always time there shows during my monkeys Birthday so this has become a great Birthday Tradition for us. I almost missed them this year because I did not see any advertising for their show. Lucky for me I follow then on Twitter and Facebook, as soon as they said they were touring I started to check to see if they had any US dates. As a parent I was excited to see the next Generation of Wiggles take over and I’m happy to report It was a great show.

I won’t spoil the show for anyone if you plan on taking your little ones so I won’t go into too much detail but I will tell you it will pay to follow them on Twitter. My little guy got a shout out as Emma Wiggles read my tweet out loud. So don’t forget to tweet them during the show you never know they might be reading your tweets next.

Thanks Wiggles for once more showing us a great time. Got my little man a new shirt and a backpack (that by the way he won’t put down).

Twitter Friday!!

Are you following me on twitter?? See what are some on my tweets for this week.

I participate in a weekly running group on Saturday mornings and I actually consider this time as me time and yes I still think it’s masochistic of me. But I’m learning to love the support I receive from them.

Self explanatory – I was soaked!!!

So far we have celebrated my monkeys birthday every year with a Wiggles Concert. He loves it so I live it.

I don’t need to even explain this!

Yes… I got a virtual tamagotchi available as an app for iPhones and androids. Total throwback toy!! To date I’ve had one die already. Sadface . It’s like carrying around another kid! He wants to eat, poop, play and needs medicine.

Just a tiny sample of my tweets. Have a twitter follow me I’m easy to find @katiiz95. Like this post follow my blog.

Happy Friday!!!!

How we spent the BIRTHDAY MONTH!!!

WOW.. the month of August sure whizzed by. August was a busy month for us. My lil monkey turned 3 at the end of the month and I decided that this year we would have no party. Yup you read it right NO PARTY. I decided that the money and time could be spent much more better having a month of FUN.

We started off the months of fun at a concert, but not just any concert it was THE WIGGLES last concert with the original cast members. For those of you who have small kids that love The Wiggles, know that Greg ( the Yellow Wiggle) came back this year so it was great to see him again. My Monkey was star struck but he had a great time.   The show was full of color, lights and great performances.  My Monkey danced, clapped, and sang. When it was over he continued to say “ BYE WIGGLES”  all the way to the car. Periodically turning around waving good bye to the venue.

Next, we visited a San Francisco Giants game. The first game for both of us this season. Sadly since they won the Championship a few years ago ticket prices have been thru the roof and well as single mom, I don’t have a ton of extra income laying around to spend on sporting events.  But I came upon a great opportunity and took it. The day was beautiful, perfect weather for a day game. I love AT&T park because it’s one of the few stadiums I know that have a stroller check in.  I put the kiddo in a back pack leash (don’t judge I have one) and we walked and walked until he could walk no more. My kid loves walking around and people watching and this was perfect for him. And of course the GIANTS WON.. woot woot.

Our next stop of the month full of fun was Gilroy Gardens in Gilroy, CA. It’s a theme park  geared towards families with small children. HOW MUCH MORE FUN CAN THAT GET. The lines were short and the weather was perfect. I would have to question the food they have there as it was not so tasty and they ran out of the better food choices early on, but over all as long as I found food the Monkey can eat we were good.  The park features a Cho Cho train that circles the park, a beautiful carousel, cute car rides that my Monkey went bananas for and a water play area. But I think my kids favorite place was the play ground. I think half the toddlers were there. The excitement I saw my kid and his cousin have was hilarious. They both took off like lightning. Of course the mom’s went on the BANANA boat ride that was not suitable for a 3 yr old and got that out of the way.   The lines were not long whis is a good thing when you’re in line with a 3 Yr old. But we did wait in a line that took a good 40 min because of a malfunction. My son could see the ride and of course patients was not his virtue so he was confused as to why the line was not moving. But over all I know he had a fabulous time. We got there a tad bit after they opened and left as the park was closing. And as soon as the Monkey got in the car he knocked out. That to me says GREAT TIME!!!

On his actual Birthday we went to SUPER FRANKS. A indoor play area designed for small children and children up until the age of probably 7 or 8. They have jumpers but it’s not strictly a jumper place.  This is a very popular place on rainy days. My monkey knew instantly when we got off the freeway where the car was headed. Since I’m not the  kind of parent that just lets his kid go off and play I was right there running with him getting all sweaty. LOL. Let’s just say both of us went home ready for a bath and sleep time. Once we had dinner it was time for CAKE.  The monkey was super excited to blow out his candle.

For a short moment as we were eating cake I had a flash of sadness that I did not throw him a party but as soon as I notice him licking his fingers with his birthday hat on and a huge grin on his face I knew I did the right thing. We had done so many great things all in celebration of my little man.  Of course not having to pack up all the extra food left over or put away all the drinks and clean up the glitter left on the patio from the crafts the kids did or decide what I’m doing with the rest of the freaking cake that was left cause I am not going to eat it, was a good thing.  I think I spent the same amount of money I would have spend on a party but it was well spent on great quality time with my little man.

Happy Birthday monkey.. thank you for blessing my life for picking me to be your mommy.  PHEW now on to year three on toddlerhood. Ready, Set, GO… More frazzled days to come.

What do I have to expect in year three??
